Adoption

Montana Pittie Project (MPP) is completely funded through adoption fees, fundraising efforts and public donations. Since the rescue has no physical location, all of our Pitties are cared for and rehabilitated in approved foster homes. All of our Pitties receive complete medical care including vaccinations, spay/neutering, worming, heart-worm treatment,  and microchip prior to their adoption. Puppies under 6 months are to be spayed/neutered within one year of age with proof provided to the rescue at the owners expense.

Our adoption fee $400.  Please understand that it costs much more than that to save neglected and high risk dogs. We are not in this buisness to make money, we only want to be able to save more loving Pitties. Please consider this fee and all other expenses that come with owning a dog prior to applying.

This questionnaire is designed to help MPP determine if one of our pups is right for you and your household. MPP reserves the right to deny any adoption based on answers to this questionnaire and/or interviews prior to adoptions. Adopting a rescue dog is a serious commitment, and we take the job of matching an MPP dog with an adopter equally seriously.
If your adoption of a pet is not approved, we will do our best to explain reason(s). A denial is not a rejection of you as a person; it is a refusal to place a pet in a situation that we do not feel is a good match or does not meet our policies.

We primarily adopt dogs to applicants who live in Montana. We do occasionally adopt dogs to applicants outside of our immediate area in some circumstances for some dogs. We take this on a case by case basis.

Approval process:
-We conduct a background check.
-We call all references listed in application.
-We call an applicants landlord when necessary.
-We check with an applicants current veterinarian.
-We explore available social media.
-We conduct a virtual house visit if we feel it’s needed.

Application Review:
-General turnaround time for application processing is 10 business days. Processing time is dependent on the availability of MPP Rescue volunteers, the completeness of your application, and the availability of your references. Please let your references know we will be calling and double check the numbers listed to ensure they are correct 🙂
-If your application is selected, an MPP Rescue Adoption Coordinator will be in touch with you and your references.
-Please note we do not adopt to anyone under the age of 21.

PLEASE MESSAGE THE RESCUE VIA FACEBOOK OR EMAIL US AT montanapittieproject@gmail.com once your application has been submitted so we can confirm its submission.

Fostering

If you are unable to adopt a dog, but would still like to rescue a dog, please consider fostering. We could not operate without the support of our many volunteers who foster dogs until we can find them the perfect forever home.
Fostering is an incredibly rewarding experience! You might wonder “How do you let go of a dog?" Here's the secret: It's the easiest thing in the world! Many of our dogs are rescued from doggie death row and our foster carers are the only thing that save them from certain euthanasia. Although it is sad to say goodbye to a beloved foster dog, the joy of knowing they get a second chance is a much stronger emotion! If you are interested in foster caring, please fill out the foster application.
